Pilates Training

Pilates is a series of slow, controlled body conditioning exercises that target the deep abdominal and postural muscles known as the Core. The workout is aimed to improve flexibility, develop control, and build on strength and endurance while encouraging the mind-body connection.

Each exercise focuses on breathing, centering, concentration, control, flow, posture, alignment, precision, relaxation, and stamina. The most important aspect of Pilates is the strength surrounding and the suppleness of the spine which leads to improving mobility in the entire body.

Integrated Pilates Movement Class (Offered at West)

This class teaches the principles and methods of Pilates to assist the participant to understand the necessities of good posture, movement quality, dynamic or static. It provides benefits like longevity of active participation activities of life. Great for general fitness, rehab, and athletics. Check out our Group Exercise schedule for timing.

Pilates Mat (Offered at Parkway and Lakeshore)

Pilates Mat is a series of floor exercises designed by Joseph Pilates that focus on breath, concentration, control, centering and precision. These exercises are designed to uniformly strengthen the body as a whole creating a balance of strength and flexibility. Open to all levels, but lends itself to beginners and those not interested in weight-bearing exercises. Check out our Group Exercise schedule for timing.

Pilates Reformer (Lakeshore Only)

Reformer Pilates provides a more dynamic, full-body workout using Pilates equipment such as the reformer. The Pilates reformer is a traditional piece of Pilates equipment which looks like a bed with springs, a sliding carriage, ropes and pulleys.

Reformer Pilates is great for building and toning the muscles of the entire body, all the while increasing joint stability. It’s also a great option for rehabilitation if you are recovering from surgery or an injury.

Welcome to Team | Beatrice Politi – NEW Pilates Reformer Instructor

Beatrice Politi came to Pilates as a client after her physiotherapist suggested it could help with her injuries. She found the practice so helpful, she decided to become a Pilates instructor herself. Beatrice is fully certified in reformer, mat, cadillac, chair, barrel and tower equipment. She has also pursued continuing education over the years including therapeutic Pilates, anatomy, fascial fitness and Franklin method courses. Beatrice’s focus is mindful progressive exercise with modifications as needed for each client for a safe, fun and challenging workout.
